I'll post the PCB scan of the prototype on my website shortly, but the handwriting on the label of the prototype is the same as your prototype. I'd bet that the binary will be the same as the one on SNES Central.

If you do not cover the eprom windows - you will eventually lose data.

UV will erase the Eproms. You should stick a label over them.

Excellent. Let us know if it's dumped successfully and you can play it on an emulator or flash cart.

Necessary part of the process I guess but sad to see the sticker get destroyed, assuming it was the devs who put it there.

yeah theres no reason to remove them for the method he's reading them out with, and as bad_ad84 keeps reiterating, having the windows open just opens the chips up to bitrot

If it's an English version most likely the game is identical to the Japanese version unless there's some regional differences. Perhaps the game is partially translated in some places.

The best way to know what is different is to release the ROM and let anyone interested play it and explore it. People like those at The Cutting Room Floor ( tcrf.net ) may look it over and find any differences and try to find any hidden debug features. The have an article on this game. http://tcrf.net/Breath_of_Fire_II

Guys, the best way was to just md5 the SNES Central rom, which matches the MD5 of this rom. Case closed.

Aww, I was hoping for something more, too. I'm a fan of Breath of Fire - "Myria" is the name of the last boss of Breath of Fire 1 and 3. =)
