I was wondering if anyone has ever found a truly broken GB, GBC, GBA, DS, or 3DS game that was broken and would not work or broken it yourself. I have seen many people on eBay who seem to think GAME + DIRT = BROKEN, but never a true broken cart. I don't even see a way to break one without intentions to do so.

Has anyone ever gotten a broken GB game from a thrift shop, flea market, good will, ect. that was broken and unplayable (or any cart based game really)?

I had a Pokemon Red that just wouldn't work. Took it apart, shiny looking contact, battery tested good. Just wouldn't work on any GB and GBA I tried. I get a black rectangle on GB instead of Nintendo logo at power on.

I also had an Atari Lynx game that were also dud.

I bought Top Gear Pocket 2 (GBC) and the cart was dead. Not a "dirty" issue. It came from a used CD/Game shop. Forgot to take it back in time to return it though... so it is still sitting around here somewhere.

I have a copy of Pop'n Twinbee for Game Boy that doesn't work, got it at a flea market. It boots up, but either gets stuck on a black screen right away, or boots up past the Konami logo and gets stuck on a white screen.

Can still play the game via one of Konami's GB Collection carts, but this one's probably a lost cause - cartridge connector look okay, the PCB looks okay (to my eyes)...

I bought couple of broken carts few years ago. Most of them were cheap bootlegs (blobs instead of rom chips = fail). But there was also geniune Pokemon Gold which had one damaged trace in a place you'd never expect.
