Hi! My n64 controller has a cracked board, the B button works fine. A Button is dead. Not able to start a game for enough due to dead a button to see if C buttons don't work as well so unsure on that. I'm not good at thee things and have ever tried so I took photos and was hoping somebody here could know what I could do. Can I soldier on a wire to remake a connection? If so, where do I want to wire from? Thanks for all help, its really appreciated!
Yeah, with a cracked board you're kinda fucked, unless as previously mentioned you can solder a few points together to fix it which I highly doubt. From the looks of it you got yourself a busted controller man :/
Should be an easy fix for someone who is competent at soldering, know anyone? You (or whoever fixes it) will just need to re-enforce the PCB with glue on the back (to stop it flexing), sand back the 8 traces around the crack and run a fine link (some solder would do). There are 2 more traces that look to be damaged, they are covered by the conductive film going to the B button, the one furthest away from the "B" silkscreen should be an easy fix, sand back the circle part and solder (don't damage the rest of the conductive film).. As for the track closest to the "B" silkscreen, same thing but be careful no to damage the part of the conductive pad that is mean to touch the rubber dome. It's a good learning experience, give it a go Good luck and have fun!
