Well, i tried to install this thing to let me play imports on my pstwo and while removing the top casing, the little power button broke loose, does anyone know were i can buy a replacement? is a pstwo, the little one, thx.
couldn't you just use the swap trick? anyway, can't help you with you problem, sorry. hope you'll find.
Most electronic-appliance repair type places can service game consoles, or should at least be able to point you in the right direction for parts. You could call Sony, but you'll problably get charged up the wazoo.
It just clips back on! Are you sure anything's broken? If anything, you'd break the lead normally. You can get replacements from the usual sources. e.g.: http://www.whitedog.co.uk/catalog/default.php?cPath=3_64 http://www.darkplanets.com/products.asp?cat=1_4 (not switch) http://www.kanection.co.uk/section.php/12/0 (cheap cable) http://www.consolemodz.co.uk/ps2spares.htm (expensive) http://www.psxrepair.com/eurostore/index.php/cPath/22_29 Sorry, all appear to be UK, but I got them by typing "PS2 spares" in Google. Try that Or "Playstation 2 spares" *edit* Canadian company - seem to be devoid of stock now, though.
oh well, i guess i'll just go to walmart and buy a new pstwo, take the good part out and put the bad part in, return and everyone is happy , i love walmart.
...except PS2s have stickers on them that void the warrantly if they are tampered with, surely? Incidentally, you may then get lumbered with having to accept a replacement, therefore having 2 - or the dreaded store credit only!
Be aware that the PSTWO dies easily (the lens and other stuff are not very well regulated, even on it's original form). I suggest you, since you are installing a modchip, to do a fix to lower the lens tension (check about these things over the net.) My friend Marcelo, from Maximum Level Games (he installed my Matrix Infinity modchip), said this: --- On the PSTWO, is necessary to add two electronic components, one is a tension regulator to lower the tension from 8,5V to 7,45 or even 6,36 (depending on the model). The other component is called Neo Fix, that lowers the tension peaks that are sent to the optical unity. This Neo Fix already has an integrated 12C508, programed to disable the PSTWO if the sensor is forced to work at high levels of tension. -- I really suggest you to do this, if you don't want the PSTWO to stop working again.
sony won't repair any ps systems with a broken seal. and what is this ''Romeo-Fix'' is all about? it changes the regulation or something? you can try it, but they will certainly check if the seal is still on. if they don't, then why not switching the serial number between the two, and keep the new one? an idea like that... :smt083
I edited the topic because i talked to my friend and he told me what is necessary to do to protect your PSTWO's. The Romeo-Fix is something about the V9-V10 (normal PS2's) with the crappy LA (CD/DVD driver controller). Anyway, for PSTWO's just check my previous reply.
And you continue to say this just because you haven't had any problems with yours *yet*? Everyone I know who's dealt with PS2 hardware - being it mod-chip installing or whatever - has mentioned how some part of the laser pick-ups crap out very easily in the newer models (V9+ and the slim models). I think Johnny knows what he's talking about - I barely do!
If circuit boards have been made to reduce laser unit tension then I'd say it's a pretty safe bet it isn't "pure fabrication". Even if you personally have one and it works fine (which may or may not be the case) that doesn't automatically mean that every PSTwo is well made. And given the number of cases I've heard of with people complaining about this model already I'm pretty sure it's not unfounded. EDIT: I shouldn't take so long to reply
walmart doesnt care, atleast my local walmart doesnt, my friend returned 2 broken ps2 without sticker on and they didnt say anything and i am not installing a chip, is just a flip top with swap magic
so you could buy broken ps2 on ebay, buy another one at walt-mart , wich between the two, and return the broken one? Ahh...theses ideas that pop in mind like that....Gwahahahaha!!:smt042 do they check what's in the box? if not then i have a better idea.... :-D it's not like you could ruin them by doing so, right? :smt043
yes, a friend did just that. they dont check crap, just take it out plug it in to the power and see if turns on, if it doesnt they just give you a new one
Well you should say that to my friend Marcelo, who owns a game store and it's an expert in videogame repairs since the NES, and install modchips for a long time (By the way, his installations are work of art). Why i say this? Well because since January, more than 50 PSTWO's showed up on his store for repairs? Some of them only worked for a week, and no, not a single one of them had modchips. It "dies" so fast that people don't even had plans on getting a modchip. If yours are still working you should be glad, but not saying other people are saying crap. My PS1 (SCPH-1001) lasted for almost 8 years before going dead, when the majority of them didn't last 3 months. I was lucky. Consider yourself lucky too, till it goes dead. Anyway, i'll try to get some pictures of these protection stuff for the PSTWO's
, dont know why people hate it, i love it mmm my gba has a scratched screen... i should go and exchange it
