I've been having this problem with my new modem, since my lines have been repaired. I contacted the ISP and lowered the MTU down to 1400, however the problem is still happening, some days it's annoying and others it will just effect images... This is what's happening: The tech support, is trying to blame my PC for the issue, and Firewalls, and Anti-Virus programs, but no the previous modem NEVER did this. So it's something to do with the modem. I checked the OEM for a firmware update and there isn't any update since it's been released. From what I believe from my knowledge is that, the modem's firmware is what's causing the issue. Tech support doesn't want to admit fault is with the modem. The issue happens on my father's PC as well, but very rarely it happens on my PC much more often. I've updated my ethernet drivers, changed cables, reset the modem, you name it. Tech support seems to just repeat what I tell them or ignore it directly. Anyone ever had this issue before?
I've had a similar problem with my ISP's modem. Random connection drops all the time, lags and I wasn't able to connect to some game servers through Steam and some other issues. Had a nice talk with a tech guy and he set the modem to pass everything through port X on my modem, so I can easily connect over PPPoE with my router and it handles everything itself. No more issues at all. Of course, I can no longer use the other ports or the wlan function of the modem anymore. No big deal, as the router handles everything on its own now.
