A while ago, I seem to have discovered US PS3 Bulletstorm gained Japanese menus and subtitles when patched via PSN. Never heard of this mentioned before I tried it (November 2014), or can name off-hand any other console game to have done so. Which leads to several questions... Is this also true in PAL copies? The update version it was added in? What about Xbox 360? Its Games on Demand page mentions Japanese, but not whether it was added later.
http://yachtclubgames.com/2015/04/out-now-on-playstation-xbox-one-date-japan-updates-and-lullabies/ If all goes to plan, assuming this topic's measly count hasn't missed anything, Shovel Knight is set to be just the second game in console history to have Japanese support patched in post-release.
Rogue Legacy came out in Japan a while ago, but I don't think the Western version allows you to change the language to Japanese.
Well the game still meets my criteria, if its initial official release in Japan didn't include Japanese text. I didn't specify only other countries. Do any of you own Bulletstorm for Xbox 360? It'd be a little silly of me to buy the same game again for such a simple test. 1. Set the dashboard display language to Japanese. 2. When prompted for any title updates, decline them all. Or just disconnect the 360 from the Internet to be 100% sure. 3. Start up Bulletstorm. 4. Presto! Note: Delete the update cache first, if you've played the game before.
I've played the Japanese version of Bulletstorm for Xbox 360. The game is region free and the text and speech are in English.
