If anyone wants to say Bay's movies are shallow and only full of explosion, I can honestly refute that claim.

I'll bite because I don't see how you can. Bay is an excellent cinematographer. He knows how to get great shots but as a director he is subpar at best.

    Highlander 2
(things exploded for no damn reason...magic?)

Nothing but explosions and virtually no sensible plot.

Movies like Armageddon, The Rock and Bad Boys 1 had some actual plots that were good. Pretty much everything after that has been downright retarded.

Listing movies that are worse than Bay's doesn't magically make him a better director. All that proves it that there are directors worse than him. He is still subpar or in your terms the Orson Welles of shitty directors.

I meant to disprove the joke and stereotype of his movies...not say anything about his abilities.

Armageddon had a good plot? Yeah, sure, if you ignore all the obvious logic flaws and plot holes you could fit a Texas-sized asteroid through. I don't mind some of Bay's movies, but none of them really have a good plot. Saying there are worse written movies out there doesn't make them any better written: that's like saying Shaq-Fu isn't really THAT bad, since Rise of the Robots exists.

No one mentioned his abilities. The Transformers movies are shit. I wasn't talking about Bay, I'm sure he's capable...but the transformers movies were shit.

I'd swear I just saw someone saying Armageddon had a good plot.

You ever seen Meteor starring Sean Connery? It's on about the same level of nonsense as Armageddon, but has some really dumb character reversals and one of the worst outer space scenes for a big budget movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079550/
Also Sean Connery gets drenched in what looks like raw sewage and shit in London.
