I've acquired a Master Link GMNT-002 from Bung Enterprises a while ago. I decided to open it and post a few pics about the pcb. The enclosure contains two pcbs. However the 2nd pcb is just a placeholder. It has no functionality, how curious. Unfortunately I have no way to test this thing because you need a Game Master (Boy) and a suitable cable to connect it.
Interesting that second PCB was used. I guess they were too lazy to look for proper thickness washer? PS if you can, get that EPROM dumped. 64Kbit or 8Kbyte then we could probably figure out how it's supposed to work.
Wow, very odd. Hmmm... To weigh down the system maybe? Not sure if a blank PCB would make a difference though.
Maybe the extra PCB was for adding extra memory or something but then again if it was then how would you connect it to the main PCB? Very odd.
I think like one post before, Also I think the factory used pcb's they had at hand. You can read "MD100" and "Family game". maybe the original designer made a larger board and someone else redesigned it smaller and so cheaper to make. then they used leftover pcb boards of the "pirate" games ? also: 2764 | 6264 | 6264/256 | 6264
I found more information about the 2nd pcb. It seems to be a part of a Game Doctor 1M mainboard: http://www.famicomdisksystem.com/game-doctor-copiers/
That is strange, none of my Master Links have an extra board. As said it's probably used as a washer.
