I think some stuff needs to be signed inorder to be able to boot on a retail wii.

It is also possible to rip a NRdisc and make it work on a chipped GC/Wii. So if you have access to the content of a Wii debug disc, then it should skip allot of hassle I think?

nope. it won't work until someone makes a real wii modchip as the debug disc isn't signed.. they don't sign the game until it's ready to be released. The Wii NR-reader-what-ever-it-is-called most likely doesn't check if the content is signed. (all this is speculations)

Yes I think it is posible. I don't have the specifications to check but I know it can be done vice versa (dumped iso -> Nr Image). It's actualy very simple.

if there was a PSO-like way for dumping RVT-R disks, then sure, you could do that , over RJ45 just like on GC.

Wii games however arent dumped from the console's reader, thus reading an RVT-R could pose a hurdle to anyone who wants to do it without the RVT-R test unit. I m not aware of any commercial drive with modded firmware that is able to dump RVT-R disks. Dr.Slump could try it though, sicne he has Zelda and one of those drives , but he's also in the middle of a house-moving (which i ll be assisting!:p )

even if you manage to read the image from a RVT disc, it wont work on a retail unit.

But don't forget I got the imagefile on my hdd; so there is no disc ripping neccesary. The data is already there but in a container.
