    Hello there!
I have some questions about burning PS2 .ISO games, and I cannot find much info about these above:

1 - What is the best speed for burning them (4x or 8x)?
2 - Can these games/discs damage my PS2 laser and lens (I had to replace my system's laser three times because of some pirated games on DVD-R)?
3 - Can I burn them on a DVD-RW? Will it be safer or better?

    Thanks!
    PS: My PS2 model is a SCPH-70011 (U/C).

Burning speed and what is best depends on your Computer, DVD-R brand/type, and your DVD writer. There is no fits all answer. It is important to use good quality DVD-R discs.

Using your system will wear out the laser. I'm not aware of if DVD-R usage will accelerate wear, but you could assume poor quality DVD-rs might do so.

DVD-RWs don't work in all PS2 models. I think they might work in some, and no you should probably avoid using those as they are probably the worst kind of disc for readability.

    I mostly use Sony and Philips DVD-Rs, a Optiarc DVD/CD AD-7710 player/burner (a laptop drive), and my computer/laptop is a Core i5, 6GB RAM, 500GB.

Most of the pirated games that I have are burned on cheap DVDs (Elgin and some other crap), and maybe that's the problem.
Strangely enough, some friends of mine can run these pirated games without any problem (model is 90001)...

your burner ( Optiarc ) is fabulous so the cheap DVD-R you burnt with most likely caused the PS2 lasers to die................

grab the free software Nero CD-DVD Speed V4.70 ( or slightly newer release )

use Nero CD-DVD Speed to find out what is the ID of your Sony and Phillips DVD-Rs , hopefully they come up as Taiyo Yuden

and we are going to want to do some Disc Quality checks with Nero CD-DVD Speed as well but we'll get to that after you post what your DVD-R media is saying in Nero CD-DVD Speed

Back in the day I used ritek g05 dye discs and burn at either 2x or 4x. These worked perfectly in my debug ps2. Also worked very well as DVD video in my retail units. I always used pioneer burners though.
