So after seeing some lists of must play PS1 games, I wanted to try out Toy Story 2. So I burned it like I burn every PS1 game and it didn't work. It got past the Playstation screen, but then just a screen of blackness and that's all. Burned it again with Alcohol instead of IMGBURN and still the same problem. My laser is working fine, because I just replaced it on my original PS1. I also tested it on a PSone and it has the same problem. So why can't I play Toy Story 2 ? I already wasted 2 CD's on it and I don't want to waste another. And both of my playstations have different kinds of modchips, so I don't think there's a problem with that. Thanks for the help.
US psx games don't have libcrypt, only pal versions.... Plus Toy Story don't have any protection, either PAL or NTSC
Well it has some kind of protection ... that's probably the reason why there is actually a fix for that in existence right? Some sites say that it's LibCrypt, others don't. You can find the fix at the usual places ... let us know if it works. Regards, iCEQB
That is not correct. I just checked many different lists and all confirm that Toy Story 2 is protected.
Yeah but probably a "Anti-mod" protection or some bullshit. Afaik Spyro had something like that as well .... but it wasn't Libcrypt
I'll quote myself from the other thread: According to redump.org PAL version doesn't have libcrypt but NTSC might have modchip detection (even though it states that it does not, there are PPF patches available). Use either a stealth chip (Mayumi, MultiMode) or patch the game with PPF patch. Or maybe you have a bad rip. Re-rip the game and try again.
