I'm having trouble converting *.umx files to something I can burn as an audio CD. The thing is, I found some badass trance in my Deus Ex folder (it's from some mod) and I can play it using VLC Player and Winamp (through a plugin). VLC Player doesn't like to convert anything, and for some reason Winamp won't convert it. Is there anything I can use, because I'd also like to throw some Unreal tracks up there, too. Good thing I figured out the *.mod files. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 music is just wonderful . Thanks for any and all help.
some dos games use *.mod and other mod formats as music. And yes Jazz The jackrabbit 2 uses mod files, and so does the first game, and OMF2097 if I remember right the first Unreal game uses mod music too
Nah, Unreal used *.umx. Deus Ex is built around the Unreal engine, hence the need to convert *.umx files. I also have the *.mod files under control. I just figured it was worth mentioning.
1. convert the umx files to wave format with the winamp diskwriter plugin. 2. burn these files to a cdr in cd audio format using your favorite disk writing program. 3. enjoy. =)
That's the problem. It won't convert. It has no problems playing the files, but it just zips through it when I try to convert it and no files are created.
there are several disk writer plugins for winamp out there apart from the one thats bundled with winamp. tried the "lame mp3 writer plugin" already? always worked for me when the nullsoft disk writer failed, but havent tried that in conjunction with umx files.
What about trying to convert the files through modplug ? Or to be more correct, through modplugtracker ?
I'll give that a shot. I don't know why I didn't think of looking up another writer plugin... Thanks.
