When you buy rare / import games which method do you usually buy from? And do you get any sense of satisfaction from that method? For me I normally buy games when I am in Japan and I love the thrill of finding something on the shelf, especially after a long wait or if I find it at a very good price.
well i think by now most people on here know where i buy most of my stuff from, but i do also purchase quite a lot on ebay (and sell as well) and there are deals to be had on there, just need to know where to look
Really I want to select two options. I buy loads of stuff in shops as well as Yahoo. I ended up just clicking shops. yakumo
I'm afraid I'm in the "i need more than one category" club as well. I buy lots of random games locally...but...if its from Japan, odds are that it came from the internets. And of course...sometimes nice people do give me things.
Personally, I much prefer buying import games from an actual shop. The few times I've been to them was infinitely more enjoyable than buying games off of eBay or elsewhere. Unfortunately, though, there are no import game shops where I live and I've never gone to Japan.
I do like to search the shops as much as i can including alot of the small ones as they have games that you can't find in the bigger shops but i mostly buy on Ebay. The only problem i have with ebay is people who call a game rare when there are about 50 other copies for sale/bid and i know they have lots of copies at the local Game/Gamestation
I find them in shops mostly. I'm not the kind of collector to pay through the nose for a particular title, I prefer the feeling of entering a real game shop, flicking through the stacks of games and finding something I've been after for a while. Especially if it's going for peanuts!
Wow , in what condition? Anyway in this damn country that nobody buys any originals cant find anything retro,so my only option is ebay unfortunately...:crying:
I feel pretty strongly about not using eBay. I was ripped off by a seller in California calling himself Vladmir Lubarsky, and eBay's dispute resolution process didn't have a way to handle my situation. I travel a bit when working, so now I get rare stuff from game shops that pop up here and there. It stinks, but a lot of the independent game stores don't last very long. When one opens, it pays off to show up and grab all their rare stuff before they go under. That's how I got copies of Suikoden 2 and the PS2 Wizardry game, and a lot of fun import peripherals. Pawn shops aren't as good a resource for me as they were five years ago, when they took in any game-related hardware and didn't know how to fix it.
Pawn/thrift stores. Found myself a mint copy of the Playstation Suikoden II. There are also a flea market down here full of tons of pirates, retro, and official Top Loader NES systems.
I use eBay a lot, but I like to buy on local shops and second hand markets too. I prefer to have the item in hand, but for most games and pre-PS2 stuff that's almost impossible where I live so eBay is almost the only choice.
