So the chinese are finally making decent phones, if you didn't heard two brands over there called meizu and xiaomi (that last one the same behind miui android) have released new models that kick the shit out of most phones and at a fraction of the price: the xiaomi unlocked goes for $300!

..........in china, because I havent seen these in the states, not even on ebay.

To make these phones even more desirable both are hacker-friendly, meaning unlocked bootloaders which is something thats becoming increasingly rare these days. And the xiaomi even has dual-boot built in! you can rock CM9 and CM7 on the same phone!:love2:

But back to getting one, I have no idea: I have only found a couple stores in english and can't get any good references (as in real) so I have no idea if I will get the phone or not.

Other are selling it..........with a price hike, one of them making the meizu as expensive as the iphone 4s.

    So, any ideas? suggestions?

    Don't:thumbsup:
Be careful from ordering anything from china. Even the fakes/pirates have fakes/pirates. You probably have a better chance going to Vegas and betting $300 on red, unless you actually know someone in china personally(who is intelligent enough to know the differences between the reals, and fakes of any given product). Every time come back from china, I see sad faces on the plane (or ship, I was in the navy) ride home, about electronics that were bust. Western markets usually provide a filter for the worst stuff, but some nastys still squeak by every now and then.

I have a G2 which I picked up for 150$ used off of craigslist, I called t-mobile and they unlocked it for free(just say your going overseas). Then I applied Cyanogenmod/clockwork. Works awesome. I also did the same with my wife's Samsung vibrant. If you have a g2 with CM7 you can basically get 4gspeeds, and tethering as a free upgrade(just have a 3g non tethering plan). Also with gps, bluetooth, wifi, what else do you need?

    Very interesting that Xiaomi phone!
Ordering from China can be a risk, only found a legit looking dutch site selling them for 390 euro.. bit overpriced.
Going to keep my eye out for one :)

I'm interested as well, and as I'm travelling throughout China right now I'll keep an eye out on them. Have some good friends here too so will ask around.

I personally would never buy a Chinese brand phone. Most non-mainstream manufacture phones tend to have really sketchy performance. Especially when it comes to battery life. But that's not to say necessarily that these handsets are bad. But I've experienced crummy handsets before and not going with a bog-standard manufacture means community and support for it will be slim.
