I'm trying to burn a compilation disc of some of my favorite songs, but I can't because some of the songs are protected. I ripped the songs from their actual CDs onto my computer (and yes, I do own the CDs) and for some reason some of the songs won't burn. Whenever I right click on the file and look under "License" it says "Protected Content." Is there a way I can bypass this and get my songs to burn?
Yep. Not to use Windows media player. Try CDeX or iTunes, neither has let me down in the past. Alternatively it could be that the CD has some buggery bollocks copy protection which prevents you from burning it. Is it a recent CD?
You can turn off the digital rights in the options. I'd say burn them with nero, it will convert mp3 to audio when you make a audio cd.
Yeah, I ripped them with Media Player, and tried burning them using some program the came with my computer (NTI CD & DVD-Maker Gold). I may give that CDeX a try. I think I have a copy of Nero on my computer at home. I'll have to check it out when I get back. Thanks
If you ripped them with Windows Media Player and left the protection options on, then you'll get the message you're seeing. Turn OFF the protection options and rip away -- you'll have no issues. -hl718
I use dBpowerAMP version9 for my music ripping/conversion. Its great and easy. They have version 11 out but that has a limited mp3 license whereas version 9 does not, so you can convert all you want. Also, you can download plugins that let you convert all types of audio files from mp3 to .mpc, .mp4, etc etc.
