I looked at pictures from the DTP-T1000 and DTP-H1500 and followed the traces coming from the RAM and could only see traces leading to Tachyon (the psp cpu) when there should also be traces leading to the Media Engine, thus I suspect that both those units do not have a Media Engine, since the DTP-L1500 cannot work without one (it's required for UMD Video playback), I wonder if the motherboard is different, I would need pictures of its motherboard to ascertain whether or not the Development Tool and Testing Tool are both missing the Media Engine or if it's just using a different label.

Can any DTP-L1500 owner open his unit and post (if possible high resolution) pictures so we can find out?

Nevermind, I had totally forgotten that the Media Engine was part of the Tachyon IC package. According to the FCC the board is identical to the DTP-H1500
