I picked this up today for $5. I love "Sleepover" cases and bags that were popular in the 3rd and 4th generation. But i have never seen one of these before. does anyone know where this could have came from? my only ideas are that it was a case used to transport the system for demos, or maybe a rental case. I tried googlin but wasn't able to find anything at all.

I think it's a rental box too. Curious, I've never seen a Sega CD up for rental at any electronics or video store before, only the JVC X'Eye.

Rental. Many video rental stores had the same type of cases.
Nice pick up for $5 :D

awesome! thanks for confirming my suspicions. i glued down the label better. so now it looks spiffy. (I have a spare setup that will fill this box nicely. so i'm super excited about getting this.) i just wish i had one of these 16 years ago.

It is a rental case. I believe they just used generic cases at first. I rented a 3do and it had the exact same case as that one. Just had the 3do label on front.

They used to sell these in video stores, I had a full set of them and wound up throwing them out as I never traveled with the hardware anymore.
