Can anyone help me figure the best way to display my PC to my HDTV? Anyways I was wondering if anyone could help me out with suggestions My PC has Video card: Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family which includes Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 The following plugs are avaliable * 4 USB 2.0 ports * 1 FireWire * 1 VGA monitor port * 1 S-Video port for connecting to a TV * 1 PCMCIA (or PC Card) slot (Type I/II, 32-bit) * 1 ExpressCard/54 Slot (also supports ExpressCard/34) * 1 headphone jack * 1 microphone jack * 1 Expansion Port 2 connector * 1 IR receiver My TV is a Toshiba 32HL57 has the following 2 Colorstream HD 2 HDMI 1 Regular A/V Cable input (Red, White, Yellow + S-video) 1 VGA PC IN (With Red-White audio inputs) However, VGA doesn't look so great and its now used for my DC Currently My TV has all cable inputs used up except for 1 Colorstream HD and the 1 Regular A/V Cable input (Red, White, Yellow + S-video) So I'd perfer to make use of those. Of course any suggestions would be great. What is my best solution to get the best picture possible on my HDTV?
There are VGA to Component adaptors. It's not going to look any better (worse, if anything) than VGA though.
Check your HDTV's resolution on VGA and you will find it has far worse resolution than your monitor. No wonder it looks like crap~
Shoot hey dj898 your right !!! I looked in my TV manual and it supports certain resolutions. So I tried each until one "fit" and it looks great. Hmm still I need one solution to something... I've already got my DC plugged into my TV's VGA port. Which is a fair reach behind the TV. Is there such thing as a "switcher" e.g something that goes to my tv's VGA port and red white AV audio cables to VGA inputs each with there own 3.5 mm headphone input. It needs to support WXGA
there used to be a mechanical VGA splitter switch box. Not sure whether you can still get it but if you can find those tend to be very cheap... The down side is you will have to flick between A and B unlike more expensive auto switching device...
Ya I saw those, but unfortunately there's no audio input on either switch meaning that I have to manuallly switch the audio inputs
Yah but, I have a Laptop...Indeed my TV and PC look pretty good and through the VGA port I can support resolutions that are quite good XGA = 1024 x 768 WXGA = 1280 x 768 WXGA = 1360 x 768 SXGA = 1280 x 1024 So I'd only really get resolution being slight better. I don't think its worth it..
then you have to go up the ladder and get more exotic - i.e. ExPensIve~ - switch which does auto switching for both visual and audio...
Your laptop should have an S-Video output, almost all of them now have this. If you want something nice and if you have a PCMCIA slot, then get a DVI display port PC-Card. They are pricey though.
My Laptop has VGA...and my TV displays the resolution of VGA very well. So I don't think its worth getting a DVI display port PC-Card
Just use S-Video. The output from that graphics card is not going to be top notch anyway, so S-Video would suffice.
The graphics card output should be fine. S-video will reduce the quality to 480i and only YC, not RGB. If you can connect the DC with S-video, or get a KVM\VGA switch box, that'd be much better.
Can you recommend a good one? I'm starting to feel the VGA idea is just a bad one>>> And btw Does DVI output the computers audio as well. B/c a card that would do that would be pretty sweet.
