I was at an arcade in the mid-late nineties, and there was a 3d polygonal snowboarding game that was in a standard looking stand-up arcade cab (so it wasn't alpine surfer or anything that use a special snowboard controller), and the control interface looked like a flightstick, something like this: The graphics were akin to a playstation 1 game, and this was at an arcade in the USA that wouldn't have had anything super exotic or Japan only. It had "serious" graphics and seemed like something that would have fit in with the early ps1 coolboarders games (as opposed to super deformed characters a la snowboard kids). The only 3d snowboarding game I can think of from around that time that had an arcade release is Steep Slope Sliders, but I'm not so sure that this title ever came to the US, or if it had the flightstick style controller that I remember. Does this description remind anyone else of a snowboard game? I don't think there were that many 3d polygonal arcade snowboard games at the time...
I used to play Cool Boarders Arcade Jam, but it had a standard arcade control (joystick + action buttons). The arcade machine was a standard non-dedicated one.
It was definitely Surf Planet! I remember the jerky movement of the characters and the wax powerups. Thanks guys, I wasn't getting any responsive results googling. I had no idea they had an arcade version of coolboards - in fact, it looks and sounds exactly like the american release of coolboarders 2 (an old favorite of mine)
