Can Anyone Identify this Cable?

I was browsing eBay and saw someone selling a PAL PS2 console on the US eBay site. Nothing too unusual but then one of the cables in his pictures caught my eye. Take a look at the pictures of the cable which appears to have a female Ethernet jack on one end:

I have a feeling the cable is completely unrelated to the PS2 but I've been scratching my head trying to figure out what it would possibly be used for. Any ideas?

 

Never mind. It appears to be related to CCTV. I found something similar here:

Who knew CCTV was so darn complicated? I'm glad I never got into that industry.

im no playstation expert but to me it looks like a network adapter or a broken IDE/SATA HDD to ps2 slim cable
