I have a 360 and of course it has no wireless reciever. So I was wondering if there was someway I could take my computers wireless connection and feed it to the 360 by way of a DSL cable going from my laptops DSL port to the xbox.
You can use ICS from the ethernet port on the PC to the ethernet port on the 360 easy. All you need is some CAT-5 cable and http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/xbox360/connectionmethods/windowsics.htm that guide.
Just make sure it's a crossover cable if you aren't feeding both the XBOX 360 and the LAN (correct term) port on the laptop into a switch. In that case, patch cable will work fine.
Some modern network cards (Macs come to mind) are self-switching. A crossover cable's always good to have, anyway.
it does work well , but it involves having an important and quite energy-consuming device to act as a bridge. Just the noise of a PC when you're gaming in a quiet room is annoying.
That's great if you're near the router, but the only way I'd be able to get a 360 online (sort of the $110 wifi adapter) is via my laptop and ICS.
I use the USB Wifi connector for my nintendo DS and Wii actually. But I m not happy with the setup energy-wise/noise-wise
Easiest conclusion to people's energy solutions: Stop being such a cheapskate and buy an X360 wireless adaptor!
