I am having trouble paying for an item as the seller has no Paypal account. My bank wants to charge me about £20 to do a bank transfer to someone in Belgium. If it was a high priced item I wouldn't mind so much, but its under 30 euro!!! I have been told it is free to do bank transfers pretty much everywhere else in europe, damn UK banks ripping me off :-(
Anyway, if someone could help me out that would be great. I have Paypal ready to send & could maybe find a little gift to send any obliging person

    Cheers :icon_bigg

There's a quote you have to pay for transfering money from paypal to accounts. Thats where they fuck you ;)

As for the bank account, I would be pleased to help you but I can't since my bank account doesnt allow international money transfers up to now...
But since you live in the UK, wouldnt it be quickier to put the money in a letter and send it thru postservice quickier and less costy?

Get to the Post Office, buy Euros (round up to nearest 5 Euros), take an addressed envelope and pre-written letter with you, pop the Euros in and have it sent registered.

Technically speaking, you shouldn't send Euros registered, but they don't usually care. Just say its documents if they ask ;-)

Thanks for the responses people. Money order is too costly, £15 Western Union! I can send through the post, but dont really like to send cash through the post.
Looks like I may have to go for that.

Actually, it doesn't matter if the guy doesn't have a paypal account, you can send money to any email address with paypal. Thus he can still collect it and he doesn't even have to open an account of his own.

I say this only becasue bank transfers are highly suspcious. You've got absoluletly no protection, I don't know the laws in the UK but here if the guy rips you off there's pretty much zero chance of getting your money back. You have to ask why exactly why this person doesn't have a Paypal account, it's not like it's a brand new concept or something. Just be careful when you use bank transfer, make sure in no way the other party gets ahold of your bank account number.

Call me paranoid if you want, but I also avoid getting ripped off.

Edit: If you send cash through the mail, enclose it in a birthday card or something so you can't tell it's cash by looking at it against a light. This has always worked for me.
