Can someone translate/explain this to me?

Please help? This is a Saturn and PS release, why all the differences?

These are only different romanizations of the same name. It is correctly romanized "Maajan Ganryuujima", a Mahjongg game by Chatnoir. I don't know why the name Ganryuutou is popular though.

This is no Saturn-title, it's a PS1-only ASCII Mahjongg game.

PS: I just did some research on the meaning of Ganryuujima and it seems like Yakumo is almost sitting on it (it's an island in Shimonoseki) :lol:

Yakumos is just a mistake. I found it searching the part number, not the title.

Yes, we all know the "net" is always right. I swear I saw that related to the game in question.

 

I think you'll usually find the last character as "shima/jima" but there are cases where "tou" is used. Iwojima was officially rename to Iwotou this year, btw.

 

I don't know anything about Japanese and use the online translators to get by. I've seen both shima and jima like you said.

I try not to bother anyone here with translation items, but I have one more if anyone can help. I'm just interested in the second part.

I am 99% agree, just that I will say Samy and not Sammy (and I use ~ and not :, but it is not the question).

I am agree for Shintai and Byoumae (I rechecked most of the saturn japanese titles during my holidays and it is one of the games for which I changed the title on my offline db. The next db update at satakore will reflect that).

 

Pioneer and AIC used Pretty Samy, although in the west Pretty Sammy is used.

The right name for the game in the first part is Mahjong (or Maajan) Ganryuujima.

Pro Shinan Mahjong 「Hei」 Tsuwamono

From what I can find 「Hei」& Tsuwamono are basically the same thing.

兵 = soldier
つわもの = soldier, warrior

How should/would it be? Many sites have it as Pro Shinan Mahjong Tsuwamono.

 

Are you talking of the SFC game? There is just "tsuwamono" written below the hei/tsuwamono Kanji as furigana.


Correct me if I'm wront, but as far as I know "hei" and "tsuwamono" are just two words for soldier, maybe one version is used more often in everyday language. But both can be expressed with 兵.

 

I was talking about the Saturn game. The other games SFC, GBA and N64 are just Pro Majong Tsuwamono, no "Shinan".

This is a Saturn and PS release from an arcade game.

After looking it comes down to is does 虹色 = Nijiirochou or Nijiiro or are both correct?

 

Chou / Machi: same thing, different reading.

 

So 町 = both?

 

According to my online dictionary, chou means rather block/street in a mathematical point of view and machi is town/quarter how we know it. As said, it's quoted from my dictionary (click, top two words), I always referred only to "machi" when I wanted to say 'town'.

 

These are somewhat interchangeable, at least in names of places. One of the "fun" things of Japanese.
