Can someone walk me through softmodding (Via Hotswap) an xbox and adding a larger HD?

Ive got an xbox with an 8GB Drive. (Xbox 1, not 360).
I was once Softmodded but bricked when i accidently removed a essential file.

However i read it can be recovered by re hot swapping, but i dont remember how to do it and the guides ive read were very confusing.

I want to softmod it with a normal 100GB HD, but have no idea what to do.

Any help from people who softmodded one?

 

Hotswap your HDD, and rebuild the C Partition. That's how you can recover your drive.

If you want to softmod, but upgrade your Hard Disk simply find a Hard Disk that can be locked. Best way to do this, is to softmod with the original disk, and backup your EEPROM.bin and FTP it to your PC.
Use the backed up EEPROM.bin and place it into the XBOXHDM CD image.

Connect your Hard Disk to the PC, and load up XBOXHDM. Select the first option to build your Hard Drive from scratch. Let it do it's job.
After it's complete use the Hard Disk locking tools, and lock it using your EEPROM.bin.

After it's locked just place the disk back into your XBOX and you're done.

 

His ethernet port is dead.

He can just use AID to format the C partition, and re-install everything.

 

On top of that if your xbox is below v1.6 then I would simply do the tsop mod and be rid of the softmod for good.

 

If he can still boot unsigned code that is or some way to install the exploited save.. :/

The cheapest fix to all this is an LPC header EEPROM reader, and turn his Hard Disk back to virgin state.

Xbox Hot Swapping for N00bs!!

 

I picked up a free xbox in a lot of other stuff because the DVD Drive didn't work when I get around to softmodding it via swap I'll make a video and hand it over to you, should make it relatively easy.

 

have xbox open, disconnect dvd drive IDE cable (on xbox) power up xbox with AV cable connected, you will get an error, but the xbox HDD will now be unlocked, keeping the xbox hdd connected to the xbox hdd power cable, disconnect the IDE cable from the xbox drive


power on PC hit pause to stop it booting at post, connect IDE cable from PC to xbox - boot AID or slayers or whatever you want, and follow the instructions.

now you're standard drive will be modded backup your eeprom and hdd key etc and transfer them to your pc somehow or to an memory card /usb stick?

grab a hard drive that is lockable, most are but check online before you buy, once you have the eeprom and hd key on your pc you can make a custom AID disc containing the backed up eeprom and the hddkey,

you can now use that custom disk to setup your softmod, (same as before) but remembering to lock your hard drive with the disc before, throw everything back in the xbox and boot up, you may also want to stick a save game hack (mechwarrior, agent under fire etc) and a custom bios on the custom AID cd/dvd incase you want to flash your bios (pre 1.6)

but a hardware mod is needed before the tsop is flashable, (connecting 2 jumpers / solder points on the xbox motherboard)
