Got two things, one is a TV issue, and one is a theory. 1. First thing, I am having problems with the connection of my PS3 when I move it from my room to the living room. The TV in my room is a 1080i HDTV that uses HDMI, and the one in the living room is a normal TV that uses composite cables. When I tried to move it to the living room, no image comes up. When I tried the same on the HDTV with the Component cable, still no image. Is it because the TV is set up to display higher resolutions and use only HDMI (Since the options on the PS3 require you to select the one you need instead of instantly select it like the 360 does). 2. This is far less important, but I am curious about something with the PS3 HDD and the internal memory cards. My guess is that when the PS3 creates a memory card on the hard drive, it creates a series of folders on the hard drive to recall the game saves on. Thing is, it uses the raw Playstation/PS2 memory format instead of some of the previous game save writers for the PC that use its own format (Like how the DexDrive has its own format when you transfer Playstation gamesaves to the PC). The thing is this: When you try to move one of those off format game saves to the HDD from a USB device, it will not accept it. My question is this: Is it possible to take out the hard drive and plug it into your PC, then dump those different formatted gamesaves onto the PS3 HDD itself? I know you can transfer the gamesaves to a normal memory card and they will work like any other file (Well, at least with the PS2 memory card. Not sure about the Playstation). I can provide example gamesaves if you need them.
I can confirm #1, just tried it with the same results. Typical Sony shodiness I presume. #2: No idea.
#1: Don't you have to set the output type in one of the system menus for HDMI vs. component vs. composite?
About the hdmi/component issue, once you set up the PS3 to a certain resolution and cable it remembers its setting. So if you re-connect the PS3 with a different type of cable it doesnt output correctly. You need to reset the video-output mode, I don't remember this exactly but it goes a little bit like this: hold the power-on button for 5 seconds. Now the output setting is reset
