    Why would you want refs from someone sending you money? surely he should be asking refs from you as he is entrusting you with like $300?

    Because paypal is fucked up and he can just do a chargeback you can be screwed....

    But that's what recorded delivery and various other postal receipts are for. Alternatively, don't use paypal.

    That would be the point exactly. I have no other way to deal with, other than Paypal. And I rather not be tied up with some dispute at the post office or something.
