I've resently tried to make a Famicom to NES controller adapter but when testing it just now it initially worked fine until I tried to boot a game on the everdrive, after which the famicom stopped powering. I opened it up and saw the 1000uF cap was blown, so is it possible that it was the adapter or was it most likely from plain old age? (I don't have my multimeter at the place otherwice I could have checked that way)
The VCC and GND rails are both wired directly to the extension-port without any protection circutry, so it's definitely possible to blow the 7805 and 1000uF through the extension-port.
