It may be more fitting to place this in unreleased games section, but since this is not an specific topic, I think its ok to place it here. So, for the love of fuck, I cannot imagine why so many people are obsessed with Waterworld for Sega Saturn. The movie was an ugly flop in every level (just as the game would probably have been), maybe its the idea of seeing an pixelated Kevin Costner on screen?
Im pretty sure you meant all the resident evil suck FROM #4 and on. But yes cancelled games have become a sort of trend in the last few years with many more people talking about them then ever before.
Agreed. I do not agree with the other guys though. First off, saying that RE sucks balls... I'm not even a fan of the franchise at all and I can easily point as to why it is or was at least one of the most important franchises. It pushed the medium, at least until Silent Hill arrived. RE 1.5, again as an outsider, I'm looking forward to. It is absolutely legendary and I can totally see why. I'd love to see people happy with the release . I don't really have any cancelled games that I hate the exposure they're getting. Perhaps all those multiplatform games that never came out on the Saturn, but I'd still like to see those someday, I'm just curious. Some years ago I thought it was beta or late beta builds were really not that big a deal, but even some these have had files extracted by scene members that have revealed more about the released games.
Of course not everyone is thinking that it's going to be the next Mona Lisa of video gaming history... I'll be enjoying the modded version from IGAS like a boss while The Horror Is Alive gets engulfed in flames by all the rage from the purists and the "omg re1.5 best gaem evar!!!" crowd. If it ever gets finished, of course.
Socks the Cat Rocks the Hill. It's not very known, but for sure that it was going to be an generic platforming game with an strange story.
Conker 12 tails or whatever its called. Guys are willing to pay thousands for what is essentially a completed game, but AFAIK it doesn't have the "mature" nature of the finished game and sounds pretty generic to me.
The thing about Conker is that it was pretty much the basis for Banjo-Kazooie. The team working on that game saw Conker and practically stole all of the Conker team's ideas and ended up beating them to release, making Conker look like just a generic Banjo rehash. As part of Rare's history it's definitely interesting to look at. I don't think the more mature nature of what was released makes it look any worse, but then again I was always a sucker for Rare's kiddie junk. And RE1.5 has already been leaked and IMO barely got the attention you'd think it would have after all the years of drama and waiting. I don't know what Assembler means by "will" be disappointing unless he's referring either to the still unleaked 80% build, or that modding project which is not official in any way and really shouldn't count.
Agreed, the SNES and Genesis both had way too many "mascot platformers" for their own good. Bubsy might have been the most atrocious exploit of this, but Socks would have been the same. I always thought Thrill Kill got a ton of attention. It seemed like Manhunt where it was only famous for the obscene blood and gore in it.
^but Thrill Kill turned into Wu-Tang, so it's all good RE 1.5 is gonna be neat as a survival horror fan until i remember how much i never really cared for tank controls, i fear
