Protest, aka SN Tester, was a game testing tool wich, just like Proview/+, used i.LINK. It has been demonstrated at the SCEA Devcon 2002, and acording to the presentation, it was better than Proview/+ in terms of speed and memory usage, probably unstable too...go figure! Here are the slides, the quality is what it is so don't complain if you have troubles reading. Proview: memory usage 156kB, speed 3.8MB/s, Proview also requires a few code changes Proview+: memory usage less than 200kB Protest: memory usage 40kB(according to the speaker), speed almost 10MB/s So why this good looking, faster, offering better security software was cancelled? Share your thoughts!
Well, that does indeed look better all round, especially the lack of Gold Masters, plus the enhanced speed / lower memory usage. Why do you think it was cancelled btw? I loved the phrase 'post-mortem debug'.
nope, it might be a situation that these tools did not get so wide usage , Skipjack is an alternative PA tool. However it would be nice to check them
I meant that Skipjack was renamed Tuner, but Protest/SNTester isn't on Snsystems website, I couldn't find it in all the archived pages from 2002...
Did it get amalgamated into ProView Plus (noting that includes testing on console, small footprint and post-mortem debug like ProTest)?
Proview+ is on the first picture, so it was a different program. DevL, good idea, but will they answer to someone not in the industry?
Surely they can answer queries, I mean it's purely research on the part of a programmer (i.e. you!) ;-)
