Given capcom coin-op is dead, how can you get the rom cart for a CPS3 game fixed? I assume it's a rom that loses it's data when the battery dies? Or is it just a matter of replacing the battery? Didn't find much info on this yet... (update) Seems it's a security rom just like CP2 setup, looks like I'll need to get a new cart from Japan.
CPS3 has a suicide battery? I thought the ROM was only used for securing the CDROM. Also isn't the battery on the motherboard, not the ROM board? That would mean that the ROM couldn't die... I don't know much about either system but that doesn't sound right.
I think the guy that dumped the Roms of CPS2, know how to "resurrect" CPS2 boars. I remember reading something like that somewhere. Anyway, maybe it's the same way for CPS3?
Thats easier said than done. I see that there is a suicide battery on the catridge after a Google search. Right now there isn't any public movement to resurrect CPS3 games like CPS2.
Capcom coin-op went out of business march of this year. There is no repair options for any capcom product in the usa anymore.
From what I read on the neo-geo.com forums some time ago the battery must be replaced with the game running! The CPS2 boards could handle a few minutes without power, but CPS3 carts would die instantly if the battery was removed. Suicide boards suck :smt019
Nothing volitile dies instantly, I'd solder on a 5v jumper to wherever the battery ends up while desoldering and replacing the it for safe measure.
Welcome to my world, the age of arcades where I live ended about 10 years ago. All that is left is %^##@$^&$%*&# gambling parlors :axe:
