Hey, I just noticed that there is file "Xbox360Codec.dll" located in the /bin/win32 folder of the sdk. Could this be the missing link to make video captures? My dev kit is being repaired, so i can't test it. Anyone want to try? *Crosses Fingers* Oh, the description of it is "Xbox360Codec Texture Compression Plugin"
Well I somehow managed to get them transfered to the pc and it says transfering sucsesed but I can't find the file I transcoded...
That's odd...I just tried and received a 0xc00d0bc4(-1072886844) error. I wonder what the differences are?
Gamefreak got it to work(Msn)!! Try using other formats than the default ones So far it has worked with 5 and 4 Thanks man!
Will post a download link in a few minutes... The syntax that needs to be used is C:.....> xbmovie /Xname or IP of devkit) /F:[ I've tried 2, 3, 4, 5. All successful.] moviename.wmv Here's an example: C:\program files\ms xbox 360 sdk\bin\win32>xbmovie /X:gamerfreak1727 /F:2 helloworld.wmv *Please note that Formats 1 and 6 aren't able to convert the video due to an audio issue.* EDIT: Link for the test video: http://www.xbox-underground.net/videocap-f5.wmv
hmm now im running into another issue, I'm trying to get 30fps on halo, but its really choppy and has a small delay, The documentation says to run the game from the disk but that didnt work either... Any ideas?
I don't think there's much you can do about the frame rate. Check out the first bullet under limitations in the docs.
Sorry for bumping up such an old topic, but...I have good news! In the newest SDK (6995) the Xbmovie command-line app is fully working, I'm currently converting a raw XBM file to the F:16 option, and so far there has been no errors while converting, I'll update this whether or not it actually works. Yep, it works just fine. Now we have HD 5.1 Surround Sound videos!
Hey guys! I just recently got a dev kit. i know how to take screenshots with it but what do i need to take video from it ? the SDK you are talking about is it the same as the XNA ? or something totally different? any help would be great guys! Thanks
Hey, you got a dev kit, that's great! The SDK is totally different than XNA which can't be used with the Dev kit. You'll have to get the SDK. Finding a dev kit is tons easier than getting the SDK, good luck.
Your best bet is to get a capture card, the Xbmovie app is a pain in the ass to get working, plus a capture card will work alot better.
It was a great Idea but it fails In practicality. Especially when You SDK doesnt work with your XDK because the sdk is to old :[ Good thing I fixed that little problem tho.
I always capture using a card instead of the SDK tools, it is a whole lot easier, and there isn't any lag caused by the HDD's write-rate, like on a dev kit. Plus with a capture card, you can go all the way up to 1080p
I know this has nothing to do with the Xbox360 Recording software but if you have a few bucks to burn I would REALLY recommend this capture card. http://blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/
Just a little update, I tried this a while ago running the game from a usb stick using XeXmenu, and my framerates got ALOT better. Basically it lowers the bottle neck further to the hdd allowing for more frames to be recorded giving us a smoother video. Also remeber to optimize framerates further it would be a good idea to upgrade to a faster hdd.
Well, when I tried to capture a long movie..(It's not really long , about 5 mins), it takes a while for xbmovie.exe copy the *.xbm file to my laptop(about 12GB, gush!). But then it says"Converting 720p source to 720p wmv", then freeze... At this point it just use 24mb of ram, and I got a lot of free disk space.. Any one please tell me is it a flaw that xbmovie.exe can't handle 10GB+ files?
