Can anyone tell me how many amps a car marty needs (MVP-10) - my recently acquired car marty doesn't seem to be accepting discs, and I'm wondering if this is because a 1200mA molti voltage adpater (It is set to 12v and -polarity) and thus insufficient? It could just be because the drive mechanisms broken, but I'm hoping not...

It needs at least 3 AMP's but I used a 5 AMP PSU for that console. It was a laptop PSU that I cut the end and swapped the polarity soldered it back together and added some shrink tubing. I have sent a PM as well to you.

Its 3 amps for definite then? I'll rummage through my psus and see what I can find. IIRC sending more than the amps needed doesn't matter, does it?

No it is actually better if you ask me and I found it easier to find a 5 AMP than a 3 AMP.

Absolutely. Using less won't do it any good, but a PSU that supplies more is fine.

Think about it - the mains supplies 13A but most equipment needs way less. Car batteries are something stupid like 63A.

Cheers for the replies. Off to buy a suitable power supply when cash comes in! I'm surprised it needs such a high amount of amps!
