Anyone else dive into the early access of the game? I decided to support stainless in their efforts, and so many backers. The game really struggles on my 5570 but it's an old card anyway, runs alright with LOW image quality and 720p resolution. With the limited tracks and cars the game is heading in the right direction, still has it's old charm.
Yup i backed the game on Kickstarter and have had the pre-alpha for a few weeks now. I must admit I expected the game to be a little more on in development than it currently is, however it was a nice surprise to see a lot of the games content, including textures are still to come. It really is an alpha, it's not the usual "alphas" that usually end up on Xbox Live, which are basically "multiplayer demos" in my opinion. This game is really no where near finished, so getting to play the game though its development will be great fun. The game also struggles a bit on my 6800 playing at 1920x1200, however the game is a lot of fun so far and exactly what you would expect from a Carmageddon game. The Xbox 360 controller also works perfectly which is nice, I much prefer using that to the keyboard.
Wasn't the game meaning to be complete by 2014? Anyway, it's still fun to play though even with the lag and bad optimization. Use to play Carmageddon on my Windows ME machine back in the day, so nothing new to me XD I was thinking about using an XBOX 360 controller, so I can play it on my 42" TV
The Kickstarter project had an estimate of December 2013 for completion, but unsurprisingly it was delayed like every Kickstarter game project seems to be. I was also a backer and therefore got the pre-alpha, but only tried it once since it's not developed enough to play IMO. You can see there's a fun game in there, but it'll take time for it to become worth playing. It's already better than TDR 2000, though
Ah damn... I thought it was meaning to be closer. Hopefully the delay has a lot of potential in the end, since some of concept art for the new cars look amazing. Like the look of a the Eagle too, waiting for the Hawk though as I liked it more. TDR 2000 was alright for $9 I bought back in the day, no where near as good as Carma 2 but was fun messing around with the console adding 100s of AI on one track. It was just crazy. Totally agree though it's miles better than TDR already lol
Love the damage model in the new one, but I'll be very disappointed if you can't split cars in half like in Carma 2.
This is my performance on i7 + GTX670. The physics and damage engine are impressive but graphics are so meh. Obviously this is an early-access-pre-alpha-blablabla and there's room for improvement (or not) but there are soooo many things to polish. I'm in love with Bugbear's Next Car Game.
I think the graphics look fine. I did not know about this game (only Next Car Game) and I will probably get it when it comes out.
No pratcam? Boo. (Yes, C2 and on didn't have that either, but I couldn't get much into those anyways due to weird (to me) physics). Anyways, I hope their mod support is (or turns out) good enough to add that back in. Apart from that, I like what I've seen so far. Might be a reason to update ye olde Windows box once again. edit: Oh! Seems like a pratcam is planned, just not in yet. Yay!
