In the past we've seen and posted auctions for fighter jets, tanks, and a aircraft carrier for sale but I think this takes the cake. Costing half a billion (1976 money) to build and operational for just about 24hrs. You, for mere pennies on the dollar can be the owner of one barely used nuclear missile complex. This 600 acre beauty comes with reinforced underground silos for 30 Spartan nuclear missiles and 16 sprint nuclear missiles along with radar and tactical command stations. You thought Missile Command was fun as a video game then you don't know what you're missing until you try it for real. http://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/aucdsclnk?sl=FTWOR713001005 *Missiles sold separately
So far, the top bidders are between The Legion of Doom and a collection of mad scientists. But if Skeletor makes it in time.. it may be a game-changer.
I've always wanted to live in a missile silo but the prices are just a bit too high. If I could afford one I'd probably pay to have fiber laid to the place and grow my food hydroponically somewhere in there.
EXACTLY what I was thinking. Someone is going to buy this and enjoy the rest of a paranoid existence. EDIT: This could actually be a great place for my new cult. I don't see any photos of any underground structures that would survive a meteor impact... allowing me to die slowly through a painful nuclear winter.
I've been involved in a number of cults, both as a leader and a follower. You have more fun as a follower. But you make more money as a leader.
If missiles were included then I am sure there would be a lot of interest in buying it from people with Iranian or Saudi accents...
Awesome is it open for europese people ? I wonder if I can get a home in europe inside a "secret" bunker/silo.
People are trying to re-purpose these for doomsday preppers and make apartments and charge insane prices that crazy preppers are flocking in to get in on. But hell I would get one of those if I could for some fun!
There are more properties like this sold by a company called 20th Century Castles at: http://www.missilebases.com/properties Some of the ones that have been renovated look comfy.
