Odd that the top screen is used for the map, since I can't see them using the touch screen in game play (apart from maybe menus).

I think the DS has more power than that. I might as well keep on playing it on the GBA then, almost same thing...(graphic-wise)

Why don't they use the potentional of the DS??? :smt083

I'm also glad that they decided to keep the game in 2D... 3D graphics get outdated... good 2D never :) can't wait till the game is released. I enjoyed the gba version allot.

Give it time, it takes a while to decide which N64 games to port next...

I cannot get into Castlevania. The one for GBA everyone masturbated wildly over, but I thought it was boring (Circle of the Moon). :\

    Bah, handhelds. I knew I shouldn't have bought myself a DS. :smt009

exact, 2d never get old when done correctly.

  12. It's very nice to see Konami keeping with the beautiful GBA-style graphics - I'm not sure why it is that just because a system is capable of 3d people expect every title to be 3d or automatically dismiss it as inferior... :smt009

I am rather disappointed, however, to see no signs of any sort of touchscreen compatability, or anything on the second screen at all, although the picture of a map in one of the screenshots doesn't give me hope for anything terribly innovative... :smt022

i am really trying to find a reason to buy a DS, and this isnt helping. i think maybe this was going to be released on the gba and then late in its development switched over to the DS. i dont know if its because of the photo or what but i think it all looks like crap.

also...the map on one screen idea is wearing thin on me, much better use could be made of the space.

this is getting really depressing, nintendo is braking my heart.

I don't think that when people say they wish the game had better graphics they mean 3D graphics.
There are games that have better graphics than their old versions and they're still in 2D. Mark of the Wolves, for example.

can't wait for this, aos was a great game, and is one of my favorites in the series (others include sotn, pce-cd dracula x, and castlevania 3). looks better than sotn to me, see for yourself.

I like the look of this alot and if some of you had bothered to read about it, you would know that it does use the touch screen for certain things.

The DS is pretty shite at 3D, it's better than psx or Saturn but nowhere near as good as the Nintendo 64 texture wise.I think they are right to promote this machine as a 2D powerhouse, we neeed a machine to continue 2D graphics like the Sega saturn did in the 32/64 bit days.

There is room for both a 2d and 3d machine in the portable market and this is what Nintendo is banking on for the moment.Anyways, Castlevania has not had a good 3d game yet and I'm all for the series staying firmly in the 2nd dimension, so is 90% of the hardcore fans.Konami is just listening to it's core market fr this game. The ps2 game was a commercial failure.

I'm just glad it's 2D for two reasons:

-The 3D castlevania's were somewhat...lacking. Castlevania 64 was pretty bad, compared to what they could have done, and Lament of Innoccence, while extremely good, fell apart when they made it a Hack and Slash, but still put RPG elements in it.

-Although some people don't realise it, 2D games are slowly dying. If it wasn't for the GBA and various artistic game companies, 2D games would have been dead long ago.

  19. Yeah, I saw that the touch screen was going to be used, but just in the description, it seems to be more of a "How can we use the touchscreen to justify releasing this game on the DS?" sort of thing than an actual planned game mechanic. I guess I just see a lot more potential with it than the developers do - Sega excluded, mind you.

Yeah, I know that game can have better graphics than their old versions, I just took the complaints to be something along the lines of, "Oh no, 2d again?", because as the screenshots show, this game is FAR from mediocre in the looks department.
