I purchased the game when it came out in 1997 and beat it with 200.6% which is the highest you can get normally without going outside the castle. I've always known about the sword brothers exploit that lets you go outside the normal and reverse chapel walls and fly around but had never done it. I just dug out SOTN the other day after I bought a few import Dracula games and was feeling nostalgic. I promptly got the sword brother up to level 90 and performed the trick, flew outside the castle a couple screens (maybe 3 or 4 over at the most) before I could not go anymore without falling back into the normal map. My question is: How do I get the rest of the percentage if I keep getting knocked back into the normal map? Edit: No faqs I've found cover getting around the outside of the castle or getting knocked back into the normal map.
I always thought the sword familiar had to be at level 99? The max percentage I've ever achieved was 210.1 ... where does the extra 5% come from?
I am guessing you watched this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78h90ulSXfc Unfortunately, it never says what the % he gets is, but a couple comments on youtube (Barely Credible, I know) state that huge %'s are possible. I have yet to try this myself but would love to soon!
You need to google the double heart refresh glitch, like CrAzY said using that and the sword brothers exploit you can achieve up to 1000%, depending on what platform your playing it on. EDIT: Ok i decided to quit being lazy and post a link, this FAQ will tell you everything you need to know:thumbsup: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/196885/3789
Sword familiar has to be at 90 on the NTSC PS1 version to get out of the chapel. I think I read somewhere else that the Saturn or original Jap PS1 version was 99. That gamefaq link worked well. I looked at that one before but completely missed the glitch section.
I just did it using bat form. I never did it with the Sword Brother. There is a place at the top of the castle that you can fly through, IIRC. It has been quite a few years now.
