Ok, I've had headaches constantly the last little while, but they just started getting really bad. I've started getting a throbbing feeling at random intervals on the left side of my head, right above my ear, and it's been sort of freaking me out lately, so my Mom made me an appointment to get it checked out, and I was told they give you a CAT scan for that. What all does that involve, do they just roll you through a big machine that X rays you? Nothing too scary I'm hoping? I just hope I don't have a gremlin or something living in my brain. :katamari2 Or one of those.
They might give you a shot to illuminate the blood vessels in your body. I don't mean they will glow. It is so that when they are looking at the scan they can sell all the vessels you have in you. Hope its not really, really bad. I had that type of shot done to me before, as well as drink berium. All of that for my appendicitis. Stay perfectly still during the scan, seriously.
Well, I found out some more about it, and it turns out I might not have to have the scan. The bad thing is that I probably won't be able to get it checked out for awhile because of some insurance crap. =( Today my head didn't bother me at all, which is good. It just bugs me because it's always in one place and feels sort of like a bruise, it has that type of pain. I guess i'll just have to wait to find out. =( I just hope it's nothing big...
Is the pain toward the front of your head (i.e. close to your temple) or the back? As "come and go" as it sounds, if the pain is closer to the temple than not, you could have sinus or allergy problems. If you do have a CAT scan, it is nothing to worry about.
CAT Scan is radiation. MRI is electromagnetic. MRI = Magnetic Resonance Imagine. I believe CAT Scan uses an isotope.
It's kind of near the back, like, if you go above your left ear an inch and move back an inch, its there. It's not near my temple. Idk though, my ears bug me lately too sometimes, wouldn't that be related to a sinus problem? I got the sharp pain again today, but no headaches, just that quick pain. It's wierd. I hope I don't need the scan and it turns out just to be sinuses, it just sucks I gotta wait for some insurance crap to process before I get checked out. Do you still see a pediatrician until your 19? Or is it 18?
