Recently I've been really getting in to some top quality Cave shooter on my phone. I'm very impressed by their work and thought you'd like to know about them.

First of all in order to get these games you need to join Cave's "Game Center Town" site. Once that's done you then pay a small monthly fee of 350 yen or there about which gets you 10 "coins" to spend each month on games. Not only do they have Cave shooters but also other games by Cave such as slots, puzzle games and game music downloads. There's also a place on this site to share your rankings with other Cave mobile phone gamers. Finally there's the Cave art gallery where you can download free pictures that are unlocked by high scores within a game. Oh, almost forgot, there's the free monthly calendar with a nice anime girl on it to turn your phone in to the ultimate otaku accessory

I have 5 Cave shooters on my phone being Espgaluoa II, Guwange DX, Mushisama DX, Donpachi DAI-DU-JOU (Which is F-ing Amazing!) and some very cool score attack game based upon Ketsui. All games run very smoothly apart from Mushijiwa-sama DX which not only looks jerky but also runs in a box ! Saying that it does have loads of speech in it. All other games have speech as well as great tunes. Cave really know how to put together a mobile phone shooter.

Newer phones (this year onwards) can play Dangon Feveron and a few other new ones. No idea why last years phones won't play them unless they use some mega big file size. Saying that, Donpachi DAI-DU-JOU is simply stunning with the amount of action with no slowdown at all. So why need more power for Dangon Feveron?

Here's some pictures I took with the camera. I was going to screen capture them but I can't find the cable now. Some shots look really poor due to the way the camera takes pictures of the TFT up close.

Actually, you don't have to be a member to play the games at this point. I am, almost never use it. Then again, my phone only works with like 2-3 of the games (and it's not a really old phone either). They used to give members first dibs on shwag they came out with, but stopped that too.

Dude, if you like those games (which I will have to admit, I thikn are absolutely awful) buy a Supergun, and the PCBs. Some of them are cheap (all things considered) and for any of them except the really new ones, you can sell them for what you bought them for months later. Trust me, the mobile versions running at 1 frame per second is a slap in the face to the originals. I let GSL play Mushihime-sama DX when we were queuing for the Cave festival last Spring. He played for 10 seconds and gave my phone back. :)

    I would if I wasn't married so for now it's Mame :(

You're phone must be cack mate. Only Mushihime-sama DX runs like shit on my phone. The Donpachi one is rock solid 30fps I shit you not. It even impressed me

Yeah, like I said, that is total wank. Well, not total wank since I've seen worse but by far the worst Cave shooter out there for phones.

Just out of interest what phone are you using? I use a Sharp 911SH (Soft Bank). I'll try to get a few videos done of the games so you can compare them.

They're no substitute for the originals but for shooting action on the bog or for slow days at work they're pretty cool.

PS: are you sure you don't need to be a member? On Soft Bank there are no download links until you sign up.

very much agreed, while the ones i played ran fine (progear and another, i think it was galuda 2) they were absolutele shite to play.

if you like what youre having on your phone you will be absoluteley blown away by the arcade games.

Hey, I'm married. Sometimes you have to show your wife who has the bigger cock! I'm pretty sure your games collection takes up more space than mine though. My games are generally on a rotation (other than the PCBs).

811SH. Hardly cack... The only reason I didn't get the 911SH is that it doesn't have international roaming. I think it's more that since I own the PCBs and have played them all extensively, my threshold for excitement is higher.

At least for some of the games. I DL'ed Mushihime-sama DX w/o being a member. I joined anyway, just so I could fulfill my title of Cave Whore. I also downloaded, played, and 1CC'ed ESPGaluda II DX by my second try.

Oh, yes the 811SH is a nice phone. I have the bios for that on my phone as well as the standard 911SH bios. Sometimes it's nice to switch between them for that different feel. It is strange that the games run slower on your phone but then again on my old 711SH EZ Racer ran at a solid 30fps but on my 911SH is slows down all the bloody time yet it's a more powerful phone

By the way, check out Taito's Wide Screen Darius or Success's Cotton. Both are very good shooters if you're in to horizontal ones.

I've not figured out a way to flip the screen for web browsing. Kind of sucks, since it's a 320x640 screen. So fucking stupid. I would hope it'd be easier for games, but I'm not much into handhelds. I'm even less into mobile phones. I barely use mine to read the news when I'm out.

When I was in Japan SoftBank advertised this one new phone everywhere. There was no way to avoid noticing its existence. Although I am not interested in cell phones at all, this one caught my interest. It was like a look in the future b/c I know that something like this will not leave Japan very fast.

You read the news on your phone? Wow, I barely use it as well but if I do it's just for phone calls and to get advert via SMS

that celly now exist about 3yrs, but it's still popular due to its multi functionality and style.

as for me, the most disadvantage of any cellys concerning play games on it, is the controlling itself. i never really had any fun of gaming a game on a celly because exactly that issue. there're some exceptions though, as some games doesn't need to be controled hastly. but as for cave shooters etc. i really don't know how there could be any fun of playing those on a celly :-(

I believe Yakumo's model has a screen like that (which would obviously be a detriment in vertical shooting games) but it's better for the web. Mine doesn't twist like that though.

Yeah, mine twists like that but the screen is wider. There's a lot of dead space on the older models like that picture above. The newer ones have a much bigger screen. The main advantage though to the twist screen is for watching movies. True wide screen in your hand

Playing those games seriously on a mobile phone would be like trying to play the Wii on a 10" TV wearing Sunglasses and having the Wiimote nailed to a desk.

Nevertheless I still consider it nice to kill some time while riding the train or so :)
Can't be worse to control than Nanostray :D

They really aren't that bad to play. I have smallish fingers mind you so that's probably why mobile phone gaming isn't too much of an issue for me as far as controls go.

Yeah, we know  Don't forget that RGB as well

Mind you, I'd love another arcade set up. Many years ago (clocking on to 8 or so) I owned a lovely Astro City cab with a few PCBs. That thing was amazing but it had to go when we moved in to the place we are now. When the new house gets built sometime this year I want to make a real games room but at the moment I'm keeping it quite from the missus. Some how I don't think she'll go with it with me just buying a new car and all :fresh:

Yeah, a house in that part of the country shouldn't be hard to accommodate a game room. If we move house, I will likely move my office to a 1-room mansion. I'll be looking to get a cab then.
