Hi, I recently came across this

Found some info saying that it's an import adapter. However I'm not sure if it's for the Sega CD or for the Saturn: looks like a jap megadrive cartridge but that label "for Saturn" confuses me a bit. Does anyone have more info about it?

    Thanks!

[EDIT] It seems that is an import adapter for the Sega CD, but will it work on my PAL Mega CD 2? I found some contradictory info saying that it's not compatible with the MultiMega BIOS and the Mega CD 2 BIOS. Is that true?

    Thanks again!

It is for the Saturn, hence why it says "for Saturn".

It allows you to play import games on your Saturn. It isn't at all rare, by the way... so this would be best in general gaming ;-)

The Mega CD one you refer to is this:

Funnily enough, it says Mega CD on the box, not Saturn!

    Google is your friend.

Hi retro, thanks for the info.

That "megadrive cartridge shape" confused me because I never saw a saturn cartridge looking that way before. Thanks again!

You know, I'm entirely willing to forgive roberam for not trusting the platform named on the label. It's like not being hung up on spelling in geneology; just because it says 'Famicom' on the box it doesn't mean that there's a Famicom accessory in it. That picture really does look like a JPN-region Megadrive cart, and you'd never be sure without looking at the connector edge.

I agree that this could be confusing.

However, I'd probably just have tried it straight up if it was in my possession. Plug it into a Saturn first, go 'hey, that works!' and then leave it be rather than going 'hmmm, that looks suspicious. I'll try it on everything else it could be first BEFORE trying it on the Saturn'.

Nah, more like plug it in to the Saturn and find nothing works because the Saturn cart slot is awful

    Good lord yes...
I have to make sure the cartridge is slightly tilted forward at all times to get a connection on my Victor Saturn and on my US Saturn I still haven't figured out which gaming gods want a sacrifice to make it work consistently.
