I bought a cd64+ in Hong Kong when I was was kid, and I couldn't get it to work when I got home. I figured I'd try it again now that I'm older, but I'm having he same issue. -when plugged into the power supply, but not the n64, the cd drive light stays on and will eject -the n64 works with no issues by itself -when the cd64 is plugged into the n64, the drive light remains off, the drive won't eject, and no video shows up. When trying this, I have Mario 64 inserted into the cd64. if anyone has a suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated.
I had this kind of issue once. CD tray was always opening. I solved it by changing the CD player. Everything s working now.
-Per your suggestion, I disassembled the unit and cleaned the contacts to the cd drive and the console dock port (since I figured i would try that before ordering a new drive, and no one in town sells ide drives anymore). Sure enough, after power cycling the unit several times, the cd64 menus pops up for he first time ever!! -Sure enough, when I try to load the Roms from the disk, it says "cd fail" so I suppose the drive is bad, but as far as I can tell the cd64 unit is good which is great news. -I'm sure things will run fine after I replace the cd drive, however over the years I have lost the rom disks that I purchased in China, and I only have the one cd now. I'm not asking for rom files because I know that's a NONO, but any info on how to format roms I already have to put on a cd that the cd64 unit will accept would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks for the help.
