Hey all, New member and I'm in need of some advice. Took a chance on a faulty CDX of of ebay and the seller mentioned nothing about it being thoroughly cannibalised. but I was wondering if it is possible to get a replacement IC 11 to try to get this thing running again? If not I'm looking at taking a loss on this thing and I don't want to. I'm unable to flash anything myself but if someone had anything for me can they let me know? Really stuck here J
if i remember right, the original bios is a narrower footprint to the eeproms out there, you might need to solder wires in to get a replacement in
I'd need a new bios chip supplied from someone willing to help a brotha' out first hell I think this thing is destined to be sold on if the seller doesn't return my message. I, no doubt, will lose money here though. annoying. I was really looking forward to adding this to my collection.
Is this the console your talking about by any chance ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEGA-GENE...715?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item339e6a9713
That is the one I am talking about yeah. Trying to recoup my loss while also seeing if there is a way to save it
well Bad_Ad94 supplies all kinds of bios' try asking him, he also said that a normal bios might be able to be retro fitted if you're able to solder
Use a game cartridge to test if it is working. If it is,use an overdrive fill with BIOS to emulate as SegaCD BIOS to test if CD ROM is working. If the above 2 tests passed ok.Then you should consider fix the BIOS chip on board.
did you end up getting a bios? going from some advice,my cdx my need a replacement bios but i dont have a clue on where to get one
Don't think its possible. You can easily find a ROM for the BIOS, but the chips are impossible to find. Maybe (just maybe) a Sega CD model 2 BIOS will work with it. It looks the same at the bootup screen in attract mode.
thanks for that.i really appreciate the input. looks like im going to have to set it aside ( i got google fatigue) and keep a eye out for a busted cdx. a working Sega CD seems to be going for what it costs for a busted cdx.
