Ok, so I got the red screen of death. It tells me to update to 4.66 or higher. And every time I upgrade I get a red screen. Then I go to the secret menu and try to update again... Same thing
    i have a teensy 2.0 ++, can I fix it with this?
will I need the E3 flasher and NOR clip to fix this?
sorry, total noob here, been trying to google this for hours, and am getting real frustrated.
plz point me in the right direction.

So I can downgrade it with an E3 flasher and nor clip even though I have the RSOD?

i could be wrong but the e3 flasher reads and rewrites a hacked bkpps3.bin allowing you to run rogero 3.55 downgrader from the XMB

You can run the downgrader from the service mode.... If you have a e3 flasher it might be worth a shot. Maybe the console will take the downgrade. IDK (Just keep a backup of the original nor dump though).

the red screen of death is a nor chip problem, although the cfw is a work around, so the ps3 will boot, but you can have savegame, and trphy problems that way.
it can be fixed with a program on the ps3.
something called rsodfix pkg.(have to search the name for it)

something that also can work is, too use the e3 flasher, and use that nor chip, as you main ps3 nor chip.

The best fix, is too use a new nor chip and reflash it, but yeah thats not th easiest thing too do either :/

I know this is a little old, but I do downgrades all the time, and the CECHL is notorious for red screen issues. Unlike the other NOR models, which use Spansion made NOR chips, the CECHL uses ones made by Samsung. Downgrading will solve the issue, but you'll need to use a RSOD update file in place of the normal Rogero patched 3.55 v7 update that is normally used. From there, you'll need to install a RSOD fix pkg file and run it. After this, you can install 3.55 OFW from the recovery menu and you're good to go. Just keep in mind that it will probably hit a red screen again at some point, as the NOR chip will most likely get corrupt again.

    RSOD fix

Has anyone written a how-to on downgrading to an earlier version of system SW?

Many people have. Alternately if you don't want to downgrade you can dump the firmware and patch out all of its protections like I did and reflash, After which you can go straight to cfw.

Okay, so I beefed up my soldering skills and have a teensy 2.0++

Sorry, again a total PS3 downgrade newb here.

Which points do I solder to each other

    I still have RSOD

What programs do I run on my computer? Is there a tutorial?

Can I replace the nor chip with a CECHL00? I have a no power Japanese console. Would that be a solution to try? Is there more than one NOR chip to replace?
