    I have a bit of a problem,I have a 20gb launch PS3 that plays PS3,PS1,DVD's,Bluerays but I also get a black screen when loading a PS2 game.
The PS3 recognizes the PS2 game but when it boots it's all a black screen and freezes up the PS3.
Retail and backups act the same

I'm pretty sure the ps3 is running the latest cfw.

    Any idea's would be great.

You need to install Habib plugin to swap the emu file. Put the Habib word file on the root of your HDD and edit the boot.text file then once that is dine reboot your system and press L2+R2+select to install the proper emu. This must be done once not every time. Once this is done PS2 support is enabled. Sony made a switch to the emu making it to small for cobra patches. Or just install 4.46 and PS2 ISO work fine from the get go. I use 4.46 and spoof to 4.60 as everything just works and cobra firmware will patch all your games once loaded from multiMAN the first time. I also suggest using webMAN plugin to load games from the XMB without the need for a manager at all.

If you are using 4.55 .... the best advice I can give you is to use Rogero 4.55 mixed with Cobra 7.0, which comes straight from the lead dev of the Cobra USB.
It's the best CFW for BC consoles imo.

I tried that before but all it did was give me a black screen and froze up when trying to play any ps2 game.

I suggest trying the leaked Rebug 4.53 they seem to have gotten the PS2 side right. Joonie is working on patching it for NAND models but NOR flash systems are working fine using just the software emulation portion of the PS2 emulator.
