I've got my self a Pc however living in France the Operating system is all in French. I can sort of muddle my way thro it but quite frankly its getting on my tits now. How can I change it if poss? I dont have the disks either back up is on a partition on the HD.
You might need the install disk, but to change language/regional settings go to the Control Panel and run Regional and Language options.
Windows is not a multilingual OS like Linux + it's major window managers (KDE, Gnome, etc.). To get an English version of Windows, you must reinstall from an English install disk. No other way around it.
'fraid so - I can confirm this as I had to suffer a French PC at work and also a French keyboard. I eventually had to just install my own OS and bought a keyboard and took it over with me.
Changing the regional settings to British will do little more than adjust the clock and keyboard layout. EDIT: obviously need to get into the habbit of refreshing before posting.
The thing is the recovery will also be in French. Thus I will just lump it. Lol Parris Ive got used to the keyboard - Uk home has a UK one French home has a French one Laptop has a spanish one Work has a German one
The recovery won't be in French. If you use an English XP install disc and boot off of the CD, the install menu will be in English. Besides, it's simple enough that you could probably navigate through it even if you didn't understand a single word.
i think you can trim a english xp to other languages with a Multilingual User Interface Pack cool name =) try to find out if there any mui for a french one
