Yeah, it's gonna be checking your IP not your OS. Probably.

Get the FoxyProxy plugin for Firefox. It lets you configure a proxy server exclusively for the websites you need it, avoiding speed troubles in the rest of the sites you visit.

great idea mate. I'll try that right now.

    Citing from samair.ru/proxy:

Anonymous proxy does not transfer the information about the IP-address of its user, and thus effectively hide the information about you and your surfing interests. In addition, some proxies (the so-called elite proxies) can also hide the fact that a user surfing through a proxy server. So there are two types of anonymous proxies (see below). Anonymous Proxy server does not send HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR variable to host, this improves privacy since your IP address cannot be logged.
Elite proxy (high anonymity) does not send HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR, HTTP_VIA and HTTP_PROXY_CONNECTION variables. Host doesn't even know you are using proxy server and of course it doesn't know your IP address.

I've never been on UK Channel Five's web site but maybe you should try one of those 'high anonymous' proxies in case they check for proxy connections.

EDIT: Wow, the timestamps are seriously messed up. Kind of funny if you're trying to follow a thread though.

I'm so pissed because UK Channel Five's web site is now doing what the BBC does which means I can no longer watch any of their TV shows since I'm accessing from Japan.

What is the best and hopefully free way of fooling the Channel Five site and others in to thinking I'm accessing from the UK and not Japan.

    Thanks

    Yakumo

You can run your connection through a proxy server, which can have varied results depending on the proxy, or if you can afford a server in the UK, VPN into that. Two options anyway

I guess using a proxy server is the way to go.
