3DS max- easy (for me) to use, and has support all over the place. Plus the models you can make up are nice. I've tried Maya, but didn't entirely like it as much.
Holy crap $3500? serious? Looks pretty nice however. I think I'll try the free trial. Do you know what the limitations are on the trial version other than the time?
Yep. It's been around for a while, so it's a good product. As far as I know, it's a time trial, like all the Adobe trial versions. Technically the full software, just limited to 30 days or so.
*fist pump* 3dsmax all the way u.u I have used others (rhino, maya, softimage, blender, solidworks, etc) It's just the one I stuck with and loved (plus all the plugins)...unfortunately laptop went out on me awhile back so I've been using the old comp. with 3dsmax 9 which is just as viable and may be a cheaper option? 6 and above is about where I started so anything earlier I'm not sure about *shrugs* also you can get a free educational license if you have an old college email or the likes... I think it just adds a watermark but idr.
I use 3DS max, although it would make more sense to use Maya- I'm on a Mac, so it's not natively supported. It OK under Crossover Games/ Wine, but bootcamping works just as well.
I used to run alil under ubuntu and old gfs mac bootcamping XD been there... I just never liked the "flow" of maya/xsi I guess. Bished alot in school about lack of pcs and maya macs lol.. but I do miss the cintiqs and wacom ;D I use an analog controller mostly... *shrugs* just to be fancy like that lol but it is functional. *p.s. the icons scared me and drawing splines sucked lol *also wait...I thought max moved to mac recently?
3DS Max and Blender are being used heavily by me for my HL2 mod. 3DS Max definitely is the most feature rich, but something about Blender seems so simple... Either way, Blender is free and can get the job done, but 3DS Max should still have that license deal where you can use it for 3 (?) years free by signing up as a student.
