I'm going to spend two weeks around New York and DC in the next few days. Anyone know any place to find cheap Dreamcast games? Video Games New York store looks really expensive and eStarLand near DC doesn't look nice either. Any ideas? Maybe a flea market? Any help is appreciated.
What part of NY? I know 2 shops on long island. Video Game Hut and, Video Game Trading Post in Massapequa. They are both far into long island, probably not worth the ride and, you might be able to get better things over in the city before actually going to LI. However prices might be crazy up. Check around MOTT St, in China Town(Manhattan) There's a sweet little arcade down there too!
There's no video game stores in Chinatown anymore. You have to go to Midtown or Video Games New York for your Dreamcast fix in the city. Since the OP is coming into the city for a visit, going into the outer boroughs will be very time consuming. There's a chain of stores called Game Champ or something around Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx, but their prices aren't the cheap you're looking for.
If you find anything cheap in NY, let me know too I'm heading there today to check out a few places I heard about (besides videogames new york), like 8 bit and up, penguin village (not sure if this even still exists) and J&L. I might not make it out to game champ today, but the ones in ft greene & park slope (brooklyn) are convenient to get to & have other stuff to do in the neighborhood. Remember though, it's New York: everything is overpriced.
So I'm back... I've been to 8 bit and up before. I'm sure they have dreamcast games, but i don't know their pricing... they might have some stuff up on their website: http://www.8bitandup.com/ J & L had about 50 DC games. The ones I saw were overpriced (compared to ebay!). it is close to Penn Station & times square though... The Game Champ in park slope didn't have dreamcast games (and the other one I went to was closed because the building was getting fumigated or something).
Thanks for the answers. I'll be staying at the Brooklyn, near the G subway line, so maybe the game champ chain is worth a try? How about flea markets? I found some regulars flea markets on google, what do you think?
Usually they're overpriced, but people go to Brooklyn Flea not for video games but for the other festivities. Hey, you never know.
Which flea markets? "Brooklyn Flea"? I can assure you, you will NOT find dreamcast games there... If you like to play 80s arcade games (and beer), check out Barcade. It's right off the Metropolitan G stop.
