As I have to leave and re-enter the country in december to extend my tourist visum dance: ), I was kinda browsing to see where I could get the cheapest ticket to Seoul. If anyone can point me towards a cheap airline, that would be great . I think a ticket should be do able for <€250 right?
I know that the Japanese immigration people have started to pick up on this and refuse entry to anyone staying long periods of time in Japan and going to Korea for a few days before coming back for a long period of time. They did ask me more questions when I had to go to Hong Kong for a week to work. It's better to go further away if possible (back home is good) then come back and they are less likely to bother you.
Well, the immigration services themself advised me to do this, so I should be fine. Plus, it's quite common to do this when attending language school for short terms ( in my case, 6 months). All the schools actually advise this method as well.
Odd, maybe it's just people that do it continously. Ah you poor dutch only get 3 months unlike us in the UK who get 6 months (3 months plus visa extention)
I remeber in places like Tower Records you could pickup a free gaijin magazine which had job offers, lots of gaspanic ads and lots of cheap travel agencies and cheap flights ads, but I cant remember the name of that mag right now... Ill check it out when I get home
^Metropolis? http://www.his-j.com/tyo/fair/air.htm#asi Soul for 19,800 Yen incl. taxes, they don't say what airline. I can personally recommend the travel agency. Very fast and friendly service.
If you did look at the website it offers a 19,800 yen fair for a few days in September, a few clicks would bring up the cheapest airfare in December being around Y39,800 + TAX (about Y52,000). I checked a few places and that would seem to be the current rate. You would probably be better off trying picking up Tokyo Notice Board and Metropolis whilst in Japan and trying to book a flight whilst in Japan as the fares are likely to get cheaper within 3 months of the flight. However you are going to have to stay in Korea for at least 2 nights otherwise the fares seem to get very expensive, so you will have to factor in travel and 2 nights stay in a hotel, unless you plan to live in the airport for 2 nights?
December isn't going to be pretty. And if this is your first "extension" then I wouldn't worry. If they ask, just say you're skewing your world travel plans to stay a little longer in Japan and less time in some country that hates Japan... like any other Asian country.
Yeah ferry is much much cheaper. As for staying in a hotel here for two nights, will cost you $30 max, although it will be a love motel...god I love those places....or you could always stay at mine.
