    Hello,
I bought a 40GB PS3 (CECHG04) on a car boot sale for 10€, the seller told me it was working but I can give it back next week if it doesn't. As expected, it doesn't work :p

The hard disk is missing (I have spare hard disks but still have to buy the caddy) and I believe it was opened, the warranty sticker is missing.

I read in details how to fix a YLOD, the reflow is cheap to do but more a workaround than a real solution.
I found this stencil kit, but I would still miss the (expensive) BGA rework station.
Now at work we have this programmable preheater with its board holders, the heating area is small (around 8cm in diameter) so it won't heat the board evenly. Plus I don't think we have the top heating, so I will have to use a heating gun...

To summarize, it would be great if I can save it for cheap, and I'm sure it will be informative.
But on the other hand, I already own a PS3 ultra slim, so I would only try OtherOS and CFW on it, and it might be only a waste of time and money.

What do you think about it? :)

Really depends if you like too try it.
As a hobby, sure why not.

But normal I will say, skip that one.
Indeed it has ylod, there is always a chance it comes back if not reballed properly.

Its safer too get a ps3 system with a defective laser or something, and put a cfw on that one.
