Has anyone bought one of these? Any "brand" or make, just want know how they are. I've bought Chinese phones and media players in the past, but tablets are a little more advanced. I only want a tablet for watching videos at 720p using MKVs as I watch a bit of anime and read a little bit of manga. I doubt I'd be using this for web surfing that much, but of course I don't want that much lag. I'm looking at one of these: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/7-lcd-...wifi-micro-sd-mini-usb-512mb-8gb-flash-117175 but not from Deal Extreme, as there stocks are horrible at the moment. If you know of any better ones let me know, my price range $100-$120
My father bought one Dropad from dx, i tought would be a piece o crap , but its pretty good actually, even runs vids at 1080p. But we needed to crack it open and replace the internal memory as it keeped getting corruped ( its justs a micro sd inside)
Yeah it plays MkV, I think was around $130 Its this one if Im not mistaken http://www.dealextreme.com/p/dropad...wi-fi-hdmi-bluetooth-black-4gb-a8-1ghz-109740
I tested today some anime in 720p and some runs smoth and others ok. I think it depend on the encode, using the stock player that came with the kernel updade probably dont help much, i can try to make a video if you want to see how it does.
Be aware though that this tablet you posted has a MIPS-CPU (jz4770) by Ingenics and because Google is stupid and probably gets lots of money from ARM, they still haven't included MIPS support in their Android SDK. So if devs want to make their apps MIPS compatible, they have to download the unofficial MIPS Android SDK. Many apps work, many don't. Video playback, battery runtime and 3D performance (on the games that work, all Gameloft games e.g.) is said to be great. The Dingoo has a precedessor CPU, a jz4740, and we all know how great that one is. :love-struck:
I bought a Dropad A8, it's an upgraded version to yours Padoca85 it was only $20 more I think. Anyway some video would be great if it's not too much trouble. I'm fine with small bits of lag, as long as the audio keeps up (every Wii Video player audio goes out of sync) nameless hero I did a little bit more research and I did read about MIPS Processors not being supported that much, so I steered away from it, didn't really want to chance it.
Not only that but many of these chinese tabs use cloned ARM chips which have other issues Beware of "dualcore" models: its actually a weak as shit ARM with an ever weaker ARM bolted on it, lots of bugs
